Biography of Doreen Barbee

A native of southern California, Doreen Barbee has been involved with the arts throughout her lifetime. With more than twenty years of experience teaching art in public schools in Texas and Louisiana, she is qualified to teach a variety of media. Her formal education includes a master's degree from Texas A & M Commerce, a bachelor's degree from Louisiana State University Shreveport and an associate's degree from Long Beach City College in California. Ms. Barbee is also a certified artist and a certified teacher of porcelain painting from the International Porcelain Artists and Teachers, Inc. Her main areas of focus include porcelain painting, colored pencil work and photography. But years of daily experience in the classroom have resulted in other areas of interest such as calligraphy, mixed media, altered books, and painting. Currently residing in the Dallas, Texas area, Doreen Barbee spends her free time at art functions, traveling, and creating new pieces of art, often experimenting with new ideas. She is currently a member of the following organizations:
